With the new Lexus LBX, every journey becomes a unique moment. Because behind the exciting exterior of the compact SUV lies our innovative hybrid drive. A drive that not only provides the unmistakable Lexus driving experience, but also offers you full control and comfort - for pleasant driving both in the city and on winding country roads. The LBX is powered by a latest-generation Lexus self-charging hybrid system with a compact and lightweight 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine. Key components of the hybrid system, including the transmission and power control unit, have been redesigned to further improve efficiency, save weight and reduce size. A new bipolar nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery with low resistance and high performance supports the electric motor during acceleration, extending the all-electric range of the LBX. To make braking as comfortable as possible, the LBX's electronically controlled braking system also includes Vehicle Braking Posture Control. It automatically balances the brake force distribution at the front and rear to prevent the vehicle from rocking and ensure a linear, smooth ride. It also helps to reduce vehicle roll when cornering, keep the car stable and filter out vibrations. As a true SUV, the Lexus LBX is also available with the optional Lexus E-Four all-wheel drive. An additional electric motor on the rear axle ensures that the drive power is automatically transferred to the rear wheels when moving off, cornering and on slippery surfaces, making the LBX more stable and easier to handle.
